Finished reading this today. This is a true novelization, ghost-written by Alan Dean Foster, who manages to capture the thrilling action, visuals, and emotion of the movie. His characterizations and descriptions are strong. A thoroughly enjoyable book with insight into well-known characters. Includes scenes, dialogue, and descriptions that didn't make the film's final cut. Also, (SPOILER), a long-standing injustice of the film is rectified in book form--Chewie actually gets his own medal at the end along with Luke and Han! Makes you wonder why they didn't film it that way if it was in the original shooting script. Or is this just something that Alan Dean Foster thought to fix? A flaw that he too saw in the script?

Star Wars fans will not be bored with this book. Makes a well-known story new again.

Journal Entry 4 by Jebus801 at -- Wild released somewhere in the state, Florida USA on Wednesday, October 20, 2010
Picked this up in Tatooine! After passing by the Star Tours ride, only to see that is closed for renovations, I found this book (I think I picked it up Sunday, September 26? Not sure.) I only recently found time to read it, but it was spectacular. I always enjoy reading books based on movies (or books that become movies), as they usually highlight aspects of the story that can only be truly captured in text. While the story is essentially the same as the film, it felt as if I were engaging in the Star Wars saga for the first time. It is a shame to let this go, as I have a small Star Wars book collection of my own, but it would be a shame to keep this from anyone. Trying to find somewhere suitable to "drop" it... will post again when it has been released.

I found it in Target and didn't want to see it thrown away by careless people. I love stuff like this!
