The Casual Vacancy

J. K. Rowling sure can write - she's more than proven herself outside the Harry Potter world with this book which is not cushy and comfy at all.
A big novel about a small town - the tagline reminded me of "IN einer kleinen Stadt", the German title of Stephen King's "Needful Things", and the atmosphere actually is quite reminescent of that as wel with discord and distrust sown throughout the novel. Rowling's strength especially shows once again in her character portrayal.
Now I only need to get my grubby hands on the "Robert Galbraith" book The Cuckoo's Calling which looks a lot more like what I usully read, let'S see if she really can do crime :O)
Taking tis one to the BC Meet-up later tonight

I took the book home with me, but I don't think I will read it soon. So it will either rest here for a few years or I will find someone who is more interested in it ;-)
