Journal Entry 1 by mojosmom from Chicago, Illinois USA on Sunday, July 6, 2003
This is a sweet book, pictures of women with their cats, and short essays about what their cats have meant in their lives. The stories are funny, poignant, heart-warming. It's interesting to see how many of these cats chose their owners, and the special things they have done to make their lives better. None of these cats are pets, really; they are all members of the family.

Sent to bluenoser (and her cat Victoria) as part of a trade.

Journal Entry 3 by bluenoser from Eymet, Aquitaine France on Friday, September 12, 2003
Just received this in the mail today.
After a quick look at a couple of pages and text I can tell that this is a very special book, with beautiful photos and stories of how cats and people discovered each other.
My Victoria adopted me when I was visiting our local SPCA. She had been there for 2 months, a beautiful adult, long-haired black girl, with an ugly mohawk hair-cut to get rid of the knots she had aquired as a starving stray. Someone must have loved her sometime because she had already been spayed and is the friendliest cat I have ever had the privilege to know - loves people, dogs, other kitties - everyone!
This absolutely has to be passed on to another cat person, but only after Victoria and I have curled up together and soaked in every wonderful page.
Thanks so much Mojosmom, Mr Mojo and Lilith.

BOOK RAY!
This is a beautiful, true cat-lover's book. Victoria *purrs* and I sat down and enjoyed wandering through its pages many times.
Knowing that there are thousands of feline fanciers in BookCrossing this will become a bookray.

Journal Entry 5 by bluenoser from Eymet, Aquitaine France on Friday, October 3, 2003
This will be going to Prairie Firefly on Monday, October 6th, 2003 - the start of the bookray, and will continue as long as there are members who want to read it, then released into the wild.
Victoria wants all her feline friends in BookCrossing to know that this is a 'meow'-ty fine book and that she looks just like the long-haired black kitty, Katiti, on page 67. 'Purrs' from Victoria and 'enjoy' from me!

Starting October 6th, 2003. The order of recipients is as follows:

Cassey, Paulie and I recieved this book in the mail yesterday and have already enjoyed quite a few stories, cuddles and purrs. Cassey looks just like the tabby Chamie, and Paulie like Cooper (page 12). We look forward to reading the rest and sending it further....

This book was an absolute treat for the boys and I. Will send it to piper1 2-morrow.

Journal Entry 8 by piper1 from Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA on Tuesday, October 21, 2003
Just received this book from PrairieFirefly. It is an absolutely wonderful book. Outstanding pictures and very touching essays from the women. Slippers and I have curled up on the couch and are savoring this marvelous book.

PrairieFirefly included a picture of her cats. What a precious picture of them together - wait until you see it. I'll include a picture of my Slippers when I pass it on. Maybe everyone could include a picture of their cats. Could anyone scan the pictures into a journal entry? I don't have a scanner. I think that would be a terrific addition.

Thank you so much, Bluenoser, for sharing this spenlid book with us. I'll drool over it some more, no wait, that's Slippers drooling, then pass it on.

Journal Entry 9 by piper1 from Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA on Wednesday, October 29, 2003
This is a wonderful book. I've read it several times and copied some of the essays and cute cat names. Now it's time to let it move onto the next BCer, sigh... At least the next one is a dear friend of mine. She & I are in the same bookclub, The Charmed Ones.

I'll include a picture of my cat, Slippers. It would be fun if most people could include a picture of their cat. Maybe someone with more skills than me could scan them into a journal entry.

Thanks so much for the opportunity to see this wonderful book. Godspeed sweet book.....

Journal Entry 17 by Shylock from Skipton, North Yorkshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, July 20, 2004
A lovely book for browsing in quiet moments. I liked Polka & Dot best.I wonder why cats are always particularly associated with single women? Just one gripe-it bothers me to see people posing with wild animals as though they were pets.

Onwards to Italy now...

Journal Entry 18 by solimano from Firenze, Toscana Italy on Sunday, August 1, 2004
It's here! Thanks.

Journal Entry 26 by gata from Figueira da Foz, Coimbra Portugal on Friday, February 25, 2005
this book made me smile during the times I was reading it... it's a very beautiful book about my "brothers" (my screenname "gata" means "female cat")
hope the pictures were coloured instead of being black and white...

Journal Entry 27 by rem_DTH-272697 on Monday, April 25, 2005
What a nice book! I especially liked the photos and postcards that previous readers have added. I'm wondering if Mojosmom wouldn't like to see this book again just to see all the souvenirs it's collected.

If I had time I'd want to do a book: "BookCrossers and their Cats." I can't find my favorite photo of our cat Simba, sitting in the kitchen sink looking a right prat but from the look on his face apparently thinking he looks quite dignified.

Since this book lacks cat quotes I've decided to add some here:

Women, poets, and especially artists, like cats; delicate natures only can realize their sensitive nervous systems. (Helen M. Winslow)

Montaigne:

When I play with my cat, who knows whether she is not amusing herself with me more than I with her.

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. (Robert A. Heinlein)

How you behave toward cats here below determines your status in Heaven. (Robert A. Heinlein)

If cats could talk, they wouldn't. (Nan Porter)

Cats are intended to teach us that not everything in nature has a function. (Joseph Wood Krutch)

By associating with the cat one only risks becoming richer. (Colette0

The more people I meet the more I like my cat. (Anonymous)

Cat people are different, to the extent that they generally are not conformists. How could they be, with a cat running their lives? (Louis J.)

There are no ordinary cats. (Colette)

Time spent with cats is never wasted. (Colette)

WHILE DOGS HAVE MASTERS, CATS HAVE STAFF.

What is a Cat?

1. Cats do what they want.
2. They rarely listen to you.
3. They're totally unpredictable.
4. When you want to play, they want to be alone.
5. When you want to be alone, they want to play.
6. They expect you to cater to their every whim.
7. They're moody.
8. They leave hair everywhere.

CONCLUSION: They're tiny women in little fur coats.

What is a Dog?

1. Dogs spend all day sprawled on the most comfortable piece of furniture
in the house.
2. They can hear a package of food opening half a block away, but don't
hear you when you're in the same room.
3. They can look dumb and lovable all at the same time.
4. They growl when they are not happy.
5. When you want to play, they want to play.
6. When you want to be alone, they want to play.
7. They leave their toys everywhere.
8. They do disgusting things with their mouths and then try to give you a
kiss.
9. They go right for your crotch as soon as they meet you.

CONCLUSION: They're tiny men in little fur coats.

Sorry--way behind here. I mailed this book on to kanapoutz in France about a week ago, can't remember the exact date, but it was at least a week ago. I'm surprised it hasn't arrived there yet--although kanapoutz may be no better than I am at timely journaling. In any case, the book is no longer with me. Thanks again, mojosmom, for the pleasure of reading it.

Journal Entry 29 by KanaPoutz from Cannes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur France on Friday, May 13, 2005
Hey! Only got the book TODAY! Seems like it took the scenic route between Holland and Nice! ;-)
I think I'm really going to enjoy this book! It's a pleasure just to see all the pics, bookmarks, cards...that are in it! Check the picture!

Here is a picture of my cat Zaza, she's 7 years old, and she came all the way from England with me! :

Two days ago, I went to visit a friend whose cat just had 5 kittens, and it was love at first sight with one of them, so I'm thinking I might invite him/her to come and stay with us!
More later...

a delightful book, full of emotion and love. And the photos and other items BCers have included in it make it more precious ! I really enjoy the reading, with my Safari purring like an Airbus on my knees, torturing my flesh (claws in, claws out, claws in, claws out, you know the routine) with satisfaction...
Thanks Bluenoser and all of you for sharing !
I'll post a picture of my beautiful Saf as soon as I get one.
The book will be on its way asap.

Happy reading !
