Good teen book! Really enjoy the whole YA thing and this is decent sci-fi
Product Description from Amazon.ca
Mika and Ellie live in a future behind a wall: Solid concrete topped with high-voltage razor wire and guarded by a battalion of Ghengis Borgs, it was built to keep out the animals, because animals carry the plague. At least that's what Ellie, who was kidnapped as a child, has always been taught. But when she comes to suspect the truth behind her captivity, she's ready to risk exposure to the elements and answer the call of the wild. Listen. Can you hear it? She's strapping on her headset, jumpstarting her Pod Fighter, and--with her capuchin monkey at her back--she's breaking out!

picked up at the first book crossing Calgary meetup! It was so nice to meet everyone!
Update:
This was an excellent book! I really enjoyed the similarities to Ender's game. I have this one in mind as a possibility for a book box I'm signed up for, so if no one else wants to read it in the Calgary group I'll probably pass it around my family until the book box arrives. (I sent the whole ender's parralax around my family, so I think they'll enjoy it!)
I need to keep my eye out for the next book!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
taking to the October meeting to be swapped.
Highly recommended by both Minerva101 and megami-no-ushi plus a cover blurb by author Eoin Colfer...okay, I'll give it a try. :)
This dystopian story is a bleak prediction of the planet's fate after the power struggles between the 'haves and have-nots'. The training of a youth army reminded me of 'Ender's Game', and the idea of mutant people and animals had me thinking of Atwood's Oryx and Crake. An interesting twist with capitalists becoming environmentalists to save the planet for their exclusive benefit.
Thanks Minerva101 for a great book.

Released at the Calgary BC Meetup at the Joshua Tree Cafe today.
Interesting story. It reminded me of the Enders books in a way. It makes me think and wonder.
Taking to the Dec. meeting at Joshua Tree Cafe.
Another book that was highly recommended to me by the Calgary crossers. Adding it to my TBR pile.
Great book! I really enjoyed this science fiction book, escpecially the secret... I just wish the book went on a little bit more as I would have enjoyed a bit more closure. Great book though, thanks for sharing.
Taking this to the next person on the list.

I got this book back from Herchelle tonite - I will hold on to it until I can get back to another Calgary Bookcrossing meeting to pass it on to one of the next people on the list inside the book
I am taking this well read book back to the group today to pass along to a new reader. Once it is finished making it's rounds through the Calgary Bookcrossing group I may look at turning it into a ray on the forum...
Was passed this at the get together today.
The thought of some of the things which occurred in this dystopia regarding anyone who wasn't rich - such as living in the dark because they built a whole new city on top of you, and eating fabricated food which is just mould with food dye - gives me the creeps. Even how actual meat is obtained since all animals were supposed to have been wiped out so meat is now grown in laboratories.
Apart from the interesting world building, the adventure the main characters were on drew me right along. I also really enjoyed the different characters, even the minor ones - my favourite is probably the guy who makes all the fun little robots. It didn't end quite where I wanted it to, but that just means I probably need to read the second book.
Thanks for the interesting read!

Taken to get together~
Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing June meet-up. This sounded like a cool premise and I can never say no to YA.
This was an odd book. The action starts out with Ellie and I thought for sure she'd be the main character, but then the narrative switches over to Mika. Not that Mika was any less interesting, but I would have liked it if we saw more of Ellie's side of the story. But a large chunk of the plot is Mika trying to find his sister so I understand why he's the main focus. The world building was really good, though; I always like it when the author puts a lot of thought into everything.
I was really enjoying the whole game-but-not-a-game aspect, and the twist at the end, but when you get to the climax, it feels kind of rushed and then suddenly everything just ends. Is there another book after this one? If there had been a more concrete ending, I would have been happier, but the abruptness you do get is weird.

Passing on this book to the next reader at the Calgary BookCrossing July meet-up.
This book has been returned to me. Not sure if I will wild release it or offer it up as a ring....
