I really enjoyed this book; Kate Mosse writes the two-era mysteries so very well. I thought the plot was very richly detailed and woven together like a masterpiece.

I saw that there are several people with this book on their wishlist so I thought in the interest of fairness, I would offer it as a book ray rather than a RABCK.

Product description from amazon.co.uk:

October 1891: A young girl, Leonie Vernier, and her brother, Anatole, are invited to leave the gas-lit streets of Paris and travel south to a mysterious country house - La Domaine de la Cade - near Carcassonne. There, in the ancient, dark woods, Leonie comes across a ruined sepulchre and is drawn into a century's old mystery of murder, ghosts and a strange set of tarot cards that seem to hold enormous power over life and death. October 2007: Meredith Martin decides to take a break from her research trip in Paris - where she is studying Claude Debussy - and head down south to a beautiful hotel in the woods. She becomes fascinated by the history of the place and particularly by the tragic events of one Halloween night more than a century before that shocked the small community. Thus her fate becomes entwined with that of Leonie. But it is only when she too stumbles over a secluded glade in the forest that she realises that the secrets it contains are far from dead and buried... A haunting mystery of revenge and obsession, set against the rich backdrop of southern France, SEPULCHRE is the stunning new novel from the bestselling author of LABYRINTH.

thoroughly enjoyed this book, the moving from one century to the other was well done....couldn't put it down and will miss it as my breakfast companion. On its way to the next reader.

All be warned....I had a little accident with this book.....my bottle of water leaked in my in-tray in my car (ie front passenger's seat) and the first 100 so pages greatly absorbed the water. Now I must mention that this water was not just any suburban tap water but 'pure mountain water' for the princely sum of $1.05 for 1.5ltrs....

The book has finally landed (with a considerable thump!) in Somerset, England. I should finish my current bookring in another couple of days and will get started into this one.

I should have realised it was such a large book (I do after all have Labyrinth) but I somehow failed to register its size previously. I can see me having to read this one sitting up in bed!!! Many thanks to both DeeKay57 (for sending this on) and megami-no-ushi (for starting this ring).

Book received today, many thanks for passing it on Flutterbies9 (and thanks for the stickers & bookmark!). I was a bit disheartened when I realized how thick this book was but I'll be brave and will tackle it as soon as I finish my current read;)

Thanks for hosting this ray megami-no-ushi! :)

A surprisingly quick read, despite the thickness of the book! Sepulchre is quite entertaining and I actually enjoyed it a lot more than Mosse's first book, Labyrinth. That said, the plot is a bit clumsy sometimes and the present-day heroine is not a very interesting character. One more thing: there are *so many* mistakes in the French text that I'm wondering if anyone actually copy-edited the book (if they did, their French is obviously very poor!). There are also quite a few clichés about life in France, which was annoying at times (I haven't seen anyone smoke a Gauloise in the past 20 years but I guess it adds to the French "ambiance" of the book!).

Still, this was an entertaining read;) Thanks for sharing megami-no-ushi!

mrbaggins1 asked to be skipped so I will be sending the book to arugh48187 tomorrow.

Found this book in my PO box today. I have a couple of rings in front of it, but it shouldn't tarry too long. Thanks.

I finished this one a couple of days ago, and although it was not rivetting, it was still pretty good. I too found Meredith to be an uninteresting character, but Leonie was quite well done. I usually enjoy stories that flip back and forth between past and present as it provides two books in one. I got a bit bogged down in the scenery. It was apparent that the setting was well researched, but she beat it a bit to death. Other than that, a good read. I have Labrynth and am looking forward to delving into that one as well.

Thanks for sharing. This will go out in the mail tomorrow.
