When the Metropolitan Police fail to realise a serial killer is at work, London ignites over the fact that the killer’s victims are young black and mixed race boys. Institutionalised racism is claimed by the community’s activists and tabloids alike. Acting Superintendent Thomas Lynley is given the case, and his Scotland Yard task force is soon handling more killings and a looming tragedy.

An intricately plotted thriller: the identity of the murderer kept me guessing to the end. It all gets rather fraught and tragic towards the end, and I have to confess that I skimmed through those pages as I have little interest in personal lives of Linley and Co.

It's a long time since I've read one of the Lynley books, but the characters came back as if I'd never been away. The emotions were raw, the story was pacy but detailed, and I was inevitably wrong. The end was particularly tragic.
(By the way, I know katweeble read this before she gave it to me, but she must have forgotten to journal it!)

katweeble gave this to me to take to Birmingham for our most hungry OBCZ. She obviously got it back from sandyundead and did not tell us that either!
