Original title: Vägen till Jerusalem
An epic tale of bloody battles and deep-held beliefs, of forbidden love and heroic people.
The man who would become the Great Crusaders, Arn the Gothia, began his life in a monastery, fulfilling a promise made by his mother. While he did absorb some scholarly lessons, he learnt far more from a former Knight Templar.
Arn became a superb swordsman, a natural fighter and an excellent horseman. Even his monastery superiors began to think that this perhaps was not the place to which God was calling him.
But release from such safe surroundings to the world outside could never be easy, and Arn's innocence and strength propel his into remarkable difficulties. His country was at war, rival families including his own striving for the crown - and no one had expected his ever to emerge from the monastery to claim his hertigae.
Drinks, women and warface were all intoxicating but the penalties imposed for transgressing rules were fierce: in his case, banishment to join the Knight Templar. The crusader was born...

This book is about Arn, a fictious character, about Arn's life, a made up story. However, the book contains alot of facts that have historic bearing. There are part truths in this story. The area of Arn's home is close to where I live. The monastery where he grew up is still there, however only ruins these days.
I remember liking this book alot when I read it. I didn't thought I would like it but I did. The book is part of a trilogy but can be read all on its own. The following books are THE KNIGHT TEMPLAR and THE KINGDOM AT THE END OF THE ROAD. The story has been made into a film too.
I like to be a part of spreading the knowledge of Swedish authors into the world. So I decided to release this book at the Convention in Amsterdam in April 2010. I hope that someone will pick the book up and bring it home. Should you want to see the areas where part of this book is taking place please come and visit us and we'll guide you around.

Since a volcano stopped me from attending the Amsterdam convention this book has been on the shelf ever since. Now I am giving it a new life as a travel-by-books-book.
I hope you'll like the book. I don't know how well translated it is. Enjoy!

Included this in a Secret Angels Christmas Exchange package. The receiver likes Medieval historical fiction so I'm hoping she'll enjoy this story. Merry Christmas!
Great story! I really enjoyed the book. Mediaval novels are a passion of mine, but so far I hadn't read anything about that time period in Scandinavia. I'll try to find the 2 sequels and read them.
read the book a second time. It's still a great book! :)
