Forget the movie from the 80s. This is the ultimate fantasy story for book-lovers (not just children!) - what could be more amazing than physically becoming a part of the story you're reading? The beautiful illuminated lettering (from A to Z) at the beginning of each chapter doesn't even touch on the fantastic, minute detail in the descriptions of all the characters met and places travelled to.
The first half of the story is more of a typical adventure/quest, but I especially like the descriptions of the places Bastian and Atreyu travel through in the second half of the book (the part not touched on by the movie), which has a much gentler, more dreamlike quality, and less urgency. This really captured my imagination when I was younger.
Ready for release.

As a fantasy lover this classic really appealed to me. Looking forward to reading it.

Finally got round to reading this. Loved it from start to finish and didn't want it it end. Passing on to Vamperstein8782 as it is on her wishlist.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Finally got round to actually logging this, thanks again to billhookbabe for passing this on

Wow, can't believe this actually sat on my shelf for nearly two years before I actually got round to reading it!
I adored the film way back in the 80's and was pretty sure I'd like the book at least as much as the film (it's a rare film I like better than the original story) but this definitely surpassed my expectations. I enjoyed the first half of the book despite constantly noticing the differences between this and the film (amazing as I haven't seen the film in at least 10 years) but the second half which wasn't touched on in the film just blew me away. I love the way the author almost segues off onto another story but then brings it back on track with "but that's another story and shall be told another time"... I find myself desperately wondering what all these other stories are!
I would love to pass this on to my Faerie Gothchild, but he's far too young for it at the moment and I feel it's unfair for me to keep hold of this book for any longer so I shall find a suitable way of setting it on its travels again.
