I love Philippa Gregory but I really need to make some space and the chances of me re-reading this any time soon are slim. This is my favourite book of hers that I've read so far.
I have always been fascinated by the Tudors but there was a long time that I didn't give them a second thought, this book changed all that when I read it when it first came out. Since then I have been hungry for anything about them, fact or fiction, books, tv shows and movies.
I thought it was time for a re read, if I'm honest I didn't find it as gripping as when I first read it but still think it is fine Tudor fiction. I'm a massive Anne fan so I'm not overly keen when she portrayed as a massive, incestuous bitch. I would love to know more about Mary Tudor, this fictional account doesn't mention her being the whore to the King of France. And portrays her in a more innocent light.
I can never decide if the Howard girls were all just pawns or if they wanted ambition as much as their family.
This is worth reading if you are a fan of historical fiction and if you do want to watch this then I would recommend the Hollywood version over the dreadful BBC adaptation!

I'm sorry it took me so long to get round to reading this! Read it a couple of weeks ago and I loved it. I kept googling to see which was true and have ended up watching youtube videos on the Boleyns.
I'm planning on popping this in a book box later this month.
