Am just in the middle of reading this book, so will be journalling it very soon. After this one will be the next two - I bought all three in Red Cross Charity shop in Hull City Centre for the princely sum of 50p each!!! Bargain!

Have read this - I really enjoyed it although found the first few pages a bit difficult to get into - but once I persevered I really got into it - can't wait to devour the second one.

Thank you Olliebear! Thank u also for bookmark and postcard! Red liquorice, eh?! I would like Tales 2 & 3 but am hectic at the moment so reading slowly!

update:

the best of the trilogy i'd say, with great characterisation mostly however i didnt get on too well with this, as the writing felt a bit dated. i certainly think maupin can tell a good tale and i would recommend but not strongly.

will release at stanford arms meetup april 2005.

A sweet and touching soap-opera of a novel which I had fun reading. I wouldn't class it as great literature, but is was certainly enjoyable and entertaining enough to make me start on the sequel immediately afterwards.

Have been recomended to read this series and I've just wolfed the first two down in no time. Picked the first three up at the Unconvention, and looking forward to getting my hands on the rest of them.
Funny bawdy and poignant and a portrait of San Francisico in the '70s!
