I was really anxious to read this book (I think Markoe is quite funny) and I was surprised to find it was mediocre at best. Hope someone else has better luck.

I'm such a prude I could never bring myself to request this from the library! I'll try to give it a quick read and then pass it along. Lots of people seem to have it on their wish lists.

Being me, the (probably) only human on the planet who has never cussed in her life, I couldn't exactly put this book in my signature line. Plus, I had to hide the book every time I knew that my mom was coming over. Not terribly sure why I fished this out of Erin's Bookbox, knowing how terribly uptight I am.

Ironically, I wouldn't have noticed the book if not for the title. But the book was better than the title, deserved a less in-your-face title. At first, our main character struck me as pathetically whiny, moaning in typical chick lit fashion about her men and her parents. As the story developed, the whining about her parents seemed more and more deserved and the boyfriend whining became understandable.

Don't expect a happy ending, but I found the book freshly funny enough times that I ended up feeling glad I'd read it.

Released on Friday, March 12, 2004 at Bookbox in Alvin, Texas USA.

I'm mailing this out tomorrow in Gen's 2001+ Ungenre Bookbox! Enjoy!

This is a spare copy which I got back in a bookbox, so I want to spread the love by sending this on to a fellow BCer as a RABCK. I hope she enjoys it! I haven't read my copy yet, but a friend read it and had a similar take on it to DebNance's, that it started out a bit whiny and then improved and became a bit deeper, and at the end she said she was glad she had read it.

This book wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be. I was able to finish it so it wasn't bad, but I doubt I'll be looking for anything else by this author. Hopefully the next person will be able to enjoy the book more.
