heard Sarah Dunant on Radio 4 and thought I would give her a go

This is the second Sarah Dunant book I have read, The Birth of Venus being my first. I now have to get a copy of her other novel because I am becoming a fan of this kind of historical fiction. Again, the theme is women coping with the society that men have made for them, but this time the setting is a convent.
