Journal Entry 5 by bookguide from Wijchen, Gelderland Netherlands on Sunday, April 18, 2010
Rather ironic to pick up a book about a pilot's wife at a time when all aeroplanes are grounded because of a volcano in Iceland, but I shall read it and pass it on.

Journal Entry 6 by bookguide at Wijchen, Gelderland Netherlands on Wednesday, August 10, 2011
I took this on summer holiday with me to Switzerland, and hoped to read it and release it for the Bookcrossing Monopoly challenge, as our turn was "Planes, trains and automobiles". Switzerland is full of great themed places to release, but unfortunately I didn't get much time to read and hadn't finished by the deadline.

I enjoyed the book, was entertained by the story and the descriptions of the house in New England were good. The style of writing didn't seem anything special to me, and I was very surprised to see the photo of Anita Shreve, as for some reason I thought she was much older. I now realise that was because I was confusing her with Anita Brookner! I certainly had not expected the twist in the tail, and that raised it from a pleasant holiday romance into something slightly more interesting. I'm glad I read it, but I don't feel the need to read any more books by the same author.
