This is where the magic of Golden Haouse begins. William, Mary and Alice Constant have come to spend Christmas with their uncle. But little by little, they discover that things in this remote old house are not quite what they seem. There are powerful forces at work, calling to the children from across the centuries; forces that pull them up the hidden steps in the chimney to the secret room where the Magician lives.

Das Buch klingt gut. Ganz ganz vielen Dank!
The book was a nice little fantasy story for older kids. I enjoyed reading it but didn't like it so much that I had the feeling I should read the next part as well.

Found it in my bookbox. Gonna read it, thanks!
October 2012: Well, yes. A fantasy story for older children, that is it exactly. Quite nice to read though. I especially like the "not-exactly-shapeshifting" details and the change of view on vegetarianism ;)

This arrived safely this week along with "real vermonters don't milk goats" -- thank you so much for adding an extra surprise along with it! I will enjoy reading this and pass it on to the girls I care for as well if it's on their reading level. Thank you!
