From the back:
Meet Davide, a college nerd hopelessly in love with a girl who's way out of his league. Fortunately for him, the campus stud Valerio needs a tutor bad. Valerio will give Davide a total makeover so he'll be the type of man his lady-love will go out with. In exchange, Davide will make sure Valerio doesn't flunk out. The two spend lots of time together, and Davide shockingly finds himself becoming more interested in his studly style guide than the woman who inspired his transformation.
Going in KateKintails GLBT bookbox.

Looks cute - I'm taking this one out of the LGBT box.
And... putting it back in! It's a very quick read, a light-hearted romantic comedy about a confused young student with a crush on a female classmate. When he gets a makeover from a to-die-for hot guy (our hero keeps thinking how the changes will make him more attractive to the girl, and then wonders why he keeps thinking of the guy naked - obvious, much?). The audience, of course, knows all along what's likely to happen, but there are some quickly-resolved ups and downs along the way, and some charming touches in the text - suggested theme music for each scene, for example. [There are also a few typos - I noticed two characters giving each other a breezy "Caoi!" at one point.] Sweet, light, with some very hot scenes in the middle.
Oh, and there's a preview at the end of Dany & Dany's "The Lily and the Rose," which looks to be a good deal more angsty than "Love Circles", but with some very pretty men indeed...

Taking from the bookbox. I'll read this one then put it back in, as it looks like one Katekintail will enjoy!

A cute, quick read, glad I took it out for a day!

This arrived home in my LGBT Bookbox. Thanks!
The art is not exactly my style, but I love graphic novels, so I'm excited about this!

This was pretty cute. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. I read it the day I got home from gallbladder surgery and needed something to take my mind off the owing. There's a yaoi bookbox coming my way soon, so I'm using that as an excuse to finally get some of these books off my Mt. TBR.
The art actually grew on me, and I liked the Italian influences. I thought Davide was pretty adorable already, without needing a makeover. But it definitely boosted his confidence enough to go after what he realized he really wanted... and what he really wanted was, to his surprise, not the girl he'd had a crush on but Valerio. At first, I thought Valerio was shallow and self-centered, but I grew to love his passion for working with sick kids.
The ending filled me with warm fuzzies and definitely put a smile on my face. I also loved that each chapter/section had music cues at the bottom; I knew a few of the songs, but not all of them (I looked a few up online). It was fun to have a soundtrack along with the stories.
I usually hate bonus teasing stories at the end of manga because I get really into it and then I don't get to finish it! But this one was actually a rather nice read as well. Definitely some pretty men in it.

This is one of the many global (non-Asian) yaoi graphic novels we can thank Yamila Abraham and Yaoi Press for. I'll be glad to add it to my collection. Thanks to Kate for passing this one along!

This lucky little book is part of Spacedog's Manga/Graphic novels bookbox! :D
I've actually read this book before, so this is an extra copy that I'm passing on to a new reader.
I think it's really get to see Italy getting into the yaoi scene. I love the Winter Demon series to pieces. That being said.... I wish they'd really concentrate on their drawing. The angles and perspective are often bad, if not down right embarrassing.
Add to that, that alot of their stories are fluff with not depth, and it's really disappointing.
This one falls into that category. Shallow as a teaspoon. Characters that are thrown in and out to force a story line but don't really belong, with they way they are treated. Either you give a character space to have some personality and real purpose or be respectful enough to leave them alone. This was in reference to the only real female character in here. I didn't like the way she was treated. Used like a tissue. A used wet tissue.
The ending was slap dash too.
Sad part is, if they put it together better, it would probably have been pretty good. As it is, it's just fluff.

came back in my manga bookbox. i agree with the previous reviewer that while it's nice to see non-japanese manga, this was pretty mediocre all around. mediocre art and completely standard story. i have yet to come across anything i thought was worthwhile among the few yen press publications i've read, and this definitely didn't buck that trend.

Found in the box. Quick, easy read but it wasn't quite my vibe. I'll put it back in the box.

Back in the Manga/Graphic novel/Comics bookbox it goes.

I'm claiming this one from the Manga/Graphic Novel/Comics Bookbox 2023.

This was cute! A coming of age tale about figuring out who you are, being true to yourself, and pursuing your dreams despite familial pressures and societal expectations. I don't read many books in this genre or style, so I don't have much to compare it to, but I thought it was a fun, quick read.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
I'm sending this along with the Martha Wells book because I thought there was a chance that it might be something you would enjoy. If not, no worries at all! Feel free to release unread if it's not your thing.

Thanks for the generous package, and for including this well-travelled book! I tend to find the Yoai Press books hit or miss, but this one has lots of positive reviews from earlier readers.
