I started it, read the first section, and got frustrated with the characters. I usually enjoy reading historicals and especially books centered on WWI, so I'm not sure what went wrong here. I'd love to pass this one on to someone who might appreciate it more!

Sorry, I was in hospital when this book arrived so I'm late making an entry. Still....better late than never! This was a lovely surprise to find when I got back home. It was a book I've wanted to read for ages. thank you.

How exciting, this is the first time I have ever received a book through the post! Am hoping to get started on it this weekend.

This book has been an absolute pleasure to read. I read most of it during my commute to and from work and felt that unreal, dazed feeling - like when you come out of the cinema - each time I got to my destination as I was so engrossed in it.

I can be a bit of a wimp and was quite aprehensive as to how graphic the battlefield scenes would be. However, I needn't have worried as whilst the author didn't shirk from describing the atrocities of war, these scenes weren't dwelt on.

I was a little annoyed half way through when the action swittched to 1978, at first I felt this intruded on the book's flow and was unneccesary. But of course by the end of the book it all made sense. However, I felt it slightly odd that the book ends with the character of Robert.

I am making this journal entry on behalf of my soon-to-be-husband. The book has been to Rio and back!

"Perhaps it was because I was travelling but I found this book quite harrowing at times. I really enjoyed reading it, the characters felt very real to me. Even now, days later, I find myself thinking about Stephan and feeling sad"

Will go back in the post to Robbiesmum today!

This is back with me. I'm not signing up to any more bookrays/rings so that I can concentrate on reading books like this I really want to read. Lucky book going to Rio!
