I've had this book for ages, but have only just got round to registering it. Can't wait to read it again and set it travelling for others to enjoy.
I enjoyed reading this as much as ever. It is the story of a young orphan, who is sent to live with her cousins and Aunt. But Mrs Read resents her, doesn't understand her and ends up sending her away to a poorly run school. There she manages to flourish, despite the poor conditions and the loss of her dearest friend, but at the age of 18m she decides to leave to become a governess. She is employed in the house of Mr Rochester, teaching his young French ward, Adele. But Jane finds herself falling in love with her master and is overjoyed when he returns her feelings. But strange things happen in the house and on the morning od her wedding day, standing before the altar, Jane learns a frigtening truth about the man she loves.
This is well written and easy to follow for a modern audience. It is a true 'gothic' novel, with its old house, strange goings-on and the innocent young girl trapped within it all. I personally can't see what she does in Rochester, as he's always come across as quite a vindictive, almost nasty, man, but then there wouldn't be a story if she didin't fall for him!
I'm sure I will return to it again in the future, but not this copy, as it will soon be starting its journey into the wider world.
