I first became aware of this book when I heard an interview of the author, David Ebershoff, on NPR. Although this book is considered fiction, it is based on the history of polygamy in the Mormon church and uncovered for me, the rich history of that church and it's founding members. I am not a religious person but live in an area where there are many following the Mormon faith and this book was an interesting and slightly enlightening window into the history of the church, it's move to Utah and it's struggle with basic changes to it's belief. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in a novel with historic ties but also to anyone interested in a well put together read - one that jumps from past to current day with ease.
