Another Betsy Devonshire needlecraft mystery.
A very strange Betsy Devonshire mystery: Betsy is laid up with a broken leg and so the main sleuth this time is her shop manager Godwin as "apprentice sleuth". Consequently, a large part of the story is connected to the local gay scene and unsurprisingly that's where the murderer is found. Equally unusual is the fact that you can tell the culprit almost from the beginning as chapters are interspersed between the usual needlecrafts shop and sleuthing related parts and a seemingly unconnected strain about the daily life of a gay man who is suffering amnesia after a car accident. There is very little needlecrafts talk in this episode and the clues have nothing to do with crafts either. This and some rather far fetched secondary involvement of Betsy's along with the over-dramatic ending make this my least favourite so far of Monica Ferris' whodunnits.
