Bleak house
2 journalers for this copy...
I begin with a confession - I know many of Dicken's characters from stage productions, films, BBC television, but never from reading a single book by 'The Great Man'....
That is until now.
This book has graced my TBR mountain for a long, long time & mainly because of its shear size, it would keep getting relegated back down the pile..
No longer is this the case.
Yes, it took me nearly two weeks to finish but WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. I just loved this book from beginning to end.
The use of language coupled with the fact that Dickens is a genius at descriptive writing - his characters just jump off the page. As a chronicle of life during his time it must be unparralled and for such a long novel I was amazed at how easy it was to keep all the characters in focus (I think that this is partly because he originally wrote this novel to be released in serial form and consequently made a point of trying to help his 'audience' stay involved)...
Happy Birthday Dickens & sorry it took me so very long to realise just how great you are.

You have been tagged - hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
(so glad you had this on your list - it inspired me to read this 'epic 900 pager' which had been sitting waiting to be read for a long time...)

Turned up in the PO box yesterday morning. I'm afraid that because of the size it will probably languish on Mt TBR, but will eventually be read - and probably will get that too-oft asked question of "why didn't I read this sooner?"
Thank you for tagging me yet again, oppem.
