Short, very interesting book about a Peace Corp volunteer who spent two years with a midwife in Mali in 1989/1990. I was most interested in the birthing practises in an area with no hospital and doctors, but there are also interesting cultural references from this country with a very mixed religious community, being torpedoed into the "modern world", not to the delight of all its citizens.
