Such a Long Journey
2 journalers for this copy...
This is Mistry's first full length novel, after his well received short stories: "Tales from Firozsha Bhag"
He was born in India, but as a Canadian I am TOTALLY claiming him as a Canuck author since he has lived here for many years.
"Such a Long Journey" was made into a very good movie starring some of the UK's top Brit/South Asian actors:
Roshan Seth, Soni Razdan, Om Puri etc.
After that, Mistry's star really rose with "A Fine Balance", followed by another very good book: "Family Matters".
I was lucky enough to receive a hand written note from Mr. Mistry in 2005 after writing to his publisher. It's a real keepsake.
It has been quite a while since Mistry had a new book out. 'Hope he's working on one now.....

Taking to Harbord House bookswap on Feb. 10th for Jessibud.
Thanks, Bookgirrl. I have been wanting to read his work after hearing a fanbulous interview on the radio not long ago. This seems like a good place to start! Fun meetup today
Was that the very touching interview where he sang? I couldn't believe it, as he's such a shy man. I love Mr. Mistry.
