I've experienced this book differently this time than I did 7 years ago. Once again I've enjoyed it. Also I have more understanding this time for Veronica's obsession with the past and for her fragmented memory.
However, it beats me why she is so horrible towards her loving husband and innocent children, so I wasn't sad when I'd finished The Gathering.

In October 2018 I read this book again, albeit a copy from the library. My main thought was, how Veronica could be so heartless towards her kind husband and what a bad mother she is. Apart from that, it is a compelling book which I have now finished for the 3rd time, apparently...
