I found this at a local coffee shop, and since it seems that quite a few people want to read it, went ahead and brought it home to register.

I was at Heine Brothers earlier today and saw this above the fireplace. I'd wanted to read it for a while so I grabbed it to read in the New Year (and dropped a book of my own off as I didn't release all the books I brought on my Christmas travels!)
Thank you and happy new year!
Thank you and happy new year!
Finally got around to reading this- ironically I picked it up to read in 2010 and I finally got to it in the waning days of 2011! (Yes, I am a little behind!)
Really enjoyed this book- I do love reading stories about artists and art as it is so far removed from my day to day life. I also love books that have individual stories that are connected in some way - this time through the painting.
Will hold onto this for a VBB that I am waiting on so hopefully it will travel soon.
1/11/12 Book was requested by bookstogive. Will mail out over the weekend.

Sent to bookstogive per her request. Enjoy!
I selected this one from the General Lit VBB, Thanks for offering it! I am really looking forward to reading it very soon and then it can continue it's travels.
This was a good little book, sorry it took so long to get to it.
The story follows the history of a painting believed to be by Vermeer starting with the current owner going back to the painting being conceived. I have read a few books about artists including Girl with a Pearl Earring which is a confirmed painting by Vermeer.
This one is now ready to travel onward.

I loved the premise of this book. It was so interesting to see how each person came to have the painting over the centuries. Thanks for sharing!
