What I've Heard About This Book: This is Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Chabon's first novel for young readers ... a sort of American-ized Narnia.
From what I gather, a band of fairies called ferishers recruit an 11-year-old boy named Ethan to help them defeat their ancient foe. Ethan, who describes himself as quite possibly the worst Little League baseball player ever to play the game, in turn recruits his friend Jennifer and a motley crew of creatures to defeat everything from giants to bat-winged goblins ... and "one of the toughest baseball clubs in the realms of magic" ... to save both the ferishers and Planet Earth from everything evil.
Something like that.
Side note: This is about as far away from Chabon's Pulitzer Prize book "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay" as you can get. Should be a ride.
I liked 'Kavalier & Clay,' by the way, even though I thought it got wordy at times. Not saying this book will be wordy. But. It. Is. A. Whopping. 500. Pages!! For kids!! Just saying.
