I started reading this book last night and I am already 1/4 done. I am enjoying the book so far. The history of Iran is educating.

The writer is a NPR reporter turned author. I enjoyed the way the author weaved the history of Iran over the last 100 years. My heart went out to Helen's parents. I think it would difficult to raise your daughter in one faith and she covert to something so different. Also, when Helen got married, it seemed like her family was no longer important. I could be wrong and there just wasn't room in the book for that part of the story. There were holes in the story that I, the reader, wanted filled in. The other fault I have with the book is that 9/11 was just glossed over. I was waiting to hear Davar express her feelings. I felt that she side stepped this issue.
