I picked up this copy from The Book Thing of Baltimore, Inc. located in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. The Book Thing is a warehouse of free books that has become a local fixture in the community. The premise is simple. You take as many books as you like, and you can donate as many books as you like. It has become a place for us bookcrossers to congregate often.

Here is the book description from the publisher:

Eleven-year-old Mark Sway accidentally witnesses a murder and becomes the target of relentless prosecutors and the mob, and the only person who can save him is Reggie Love, an attorney barely out of law school.

Here are my thoughts on the book:

I want to point out the incredible way that Grisham is able to build characters that you have a relationship with. I felt the pain and somehow related to his story and why he had to seek safety in his lawyer.

This story kept you wondering what was around the next corner and how it would end. Grisham does not let you down with a sad ending, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Near the end (oops, I won't say anything).

Hope I did not give too much away. You will enjoy the quick and easy read that just may keep you up at night. Save some time, because you will want to quickly finish this book and see what happens.

This was left over at the end of a very rainy Day of the Book festival in Kensington, Maryland. I read another copy of this book years ago and this is what I had to say then:

Stories about children getting wrapped up in adult affairs aren't usually my plot type of choice, but this one was good. 11-year-old Mark Sway witnesses the suicide of a mafia lawyer, who reveals a very important secret to him before dying. The rest of the book is about Mark's attempts to stay safe while everyone - the FBI, the police in New Orleans and Memphis, the mafia - is after him. Surprisingly suspenseful and touching.

I hope to continue its journey soon.
