The Wang family are a wealthy Chinese family with Republic links, something which will affect them strongly in the turbulent times ahead. The book is about women, strong women, but with strengths in different areas.

A bit too slow for me as nothing much seems to happen in the first section of the book. This is more of a women's fiction book and not the type that I normally read. There is nothing wrong with the writing style or story-just not my personal taste!
