Amazon Editorial Review:
When Lily stumbles upon the well-built corpse of a local body builder-his neck broken by a barbell-the town's underlying racial tension begins to boil over. The white victim was somehow connected to two unsolved murders of black residents of Shakespeare-and a dogged policeman is determined to stop the killing. But it is Lily herself who may have to decide whether to stay and fight for justice, or run away one more time.

I enjoyed the first book more but I would still like to read the others in this series. Lily Bard, cleaning lady has had a rough life.
From Library Journal:
"Lily Bard is the equal of Kay Scarpetta, Kinsey Millhone and V.I. Warshawski."

I'm really excited to read these two books. :) In fact, I'm just re-reading the first two in the Sookie Stackhouse series so that I can catch up on the later books in the series without getting confused! So this is just perfect. :) Thank you so much for the sweet postcard, FrancesinSA, and thank you for sending the books to me. I'll read them ASAP and get them posted as soon as I can.
Anyone who's curious about what I'm reading can take a look at my Goodreads bookshelf, it shows page numbers and currently reading and so on. :)

As I mentioned in the other journal entry, I didn't feel like the first book was something special. I did enjoy it, but I don't have a burning desire to read this second one. So I am going to skip it, and I just sent nediamnori87 a PM to get an address. Thank you, FrancesinSA, for sending this book to me and organising the ring. :)

I enjoyed this book far better than the first one. The character seems to have settled down and you're only mostly dealing with one mystery. I'm not sure I like the way she introduced the new character to the book, I would have preferred it again if she'd just gone straight out and told us what his secret was. I know necessarily that this isn't a good litarary tatic but if you're following the book from the point of view of Lily it would make sense to know what she knows as soon as she knows it.

just recieved, shall read it after the other bookrings/rays I have to read!
This was really good but found it a bit repetitive, but I didn't know what rating I should choose, and so therefore I just went with 9 which is a good rating, in my opinion as it suits how good this book is!
Shall be sending it out next week or maybe tomorrow!

Arrived today. Looking forward to reading it. Thanks Jonniboi
This feels very much like this series is going the way of Anita Blake's Vampire Hunter series. All these guys keep falling for Lily left, right and centre, she keeps getting into fights (including one before the story starts), there's a big fight scene at the end, horrible things are threatened to the heroine, etc. Is the series going to get more and more pornographic?
Although I did appreciate the unusual direction Harris took with the rich guy in the story. Nice change there.

Received in the mail today - I got 4 BC parcels today!
I liked this better than book one as I already had an idea of who Lily was.
