Why is this book on my shelf? Two words, really. Neil. Gaiman.

Exactly.

Publisher's Synopsis: Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy. And, actually, he would be completely normal if he didn't actually live in a sprawling graveyard, where he is being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead.

There are dangers and adventures in the graveyard for a boy -- an ancient Indigo Man beneath the hill, a gateway to a desert leading to an abandoned city of ghouls, the strange and terrible menace of the Sleer.

But if Bod leaves the graveyard, then he will come under attack from the man Jack, who has already killed Bod's family.

Beloved master storyteller Neil Gaiman returns with a luminous new novel for the audience that embraced his New York Times bestselling modern classic Coraline. Magical, terrifying, and filled with breathtaking adventures, The Graveyard Book is sure to enthrall readers of all ages.

It's heeerrreeee, and with perfect timing. We had a power failure last night and I finished my last read. There are two of us reading this but we should be able to read concurrently. Will get this out as soon as we're done. Thanks, bobbarama, for sharing this!

I loved it. I liked Gaiman's Coraline, and I knew I'd enjoy this but wow. Bod was someone I wanted to know, to care for. The ghosts that protect him were wonderful characters, rich and historical. Silas was my favorite. I think there is a whole novel in his backstory, just hinted at here. I can completely see why this won the Newbery Medal, and I agree.

I'll get it into the mail today.

I think I don't like Neil Gaiman's children's books. I absolutely hated Coraline, and I hoped this one would be better. I kept getting bored and putting the book down (or sometimes sleeping while reading it!). I'll be sticking to his other novels.

Sent to tempestsans today.

I loved this book! I found it engaging and interesting all the way through. The only part where my attention drifted a bit was when they kept going on about dancing the macabray. Bod and the man Jack made for good reading, thanks for sharing.

I mailed this off to Sothisdhampir today... go safe Bod :)
