After hearing rave reviews regarding "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert, I was excited to read this book.... Well, I was disappointed with this book and that's an understatement.

The author is whiny and wallows in self-pity in many parts of this book, which I found annoying to the extreme and almost gave up reading this book many times. I only finished the book cause I wanted to find what all the fuss was about... Sure the author travels and she does eat, pray and love...Plus read about some funny characters and interesting situations, but for the most part this book was a big disappointment,

Gilbert's attempts at humor were bad as well.

The book has just arrived: Thank you so much, Lisa!

I've heard about it and about the film with Julia Roberts and I'm curious to read it.
I'll let you know! :)

I read the first chapter only: I was curious to know how the author considered italian people and how much she appreciated our food! This first part was often funny, even if italians were represented as the classical stereotype: pizza, spaghetti and soccer!
In fact, Elizabeth goes to the stadium with his friend "Luca Spaghetti" xD to see Lazio team playing, but in the film they changed team and Julia, as Liz, goes to see Roma! This is a scandal, because Roma and Lazio are enemies par excellence, so we had a lot of polemics about this change! Do you think it's incredible? This is Italy! We often argue for such stupid things! :P
The second part, the one about India, was so boring I decided to abandon the reading!
Too many books, too little time: it's my motto, so I don't regret not having finished it! :)

Anyway, I think Elizabeth Gilbert wrote a shallow book: she's selling her experiences to the readers and I'm not interested in such books. I don't need Elizabeth to tell me how she traveled around the world to write a journal and earn a lot of money!
The message is clear: if you can't leave, you won't be able to know yourself deeply...

That's what unhappy people need to read and I'm not one of them! :D

Thank you Lisa for sharing this book!
