Divorcée Theresa Osborne, newspaper columnist and mother of a 12 year old son, picks up a bottle on the beach during a seaside vacation. Inside is a letter from a man called Garrett. For Garrett, his message is the only way he knows to express his undying love for a woman he has lost. For Theresa, the message raises questions that intrigue her. Challenged by the mystery and unaccountably drawn to find Garrett, Theresa embarks on a search that takes her to a sun lit coastal town and an unexpected confrontation.

It is hard to pick my favourite book, but I chose this one because I found it special when I read it for the first time. We sometimes regret things past because they didn´t work out right. With this book, I began to think that we should just enjoy life as it goes, "Carpe Diem"... All moments (even sadness and loss) are important when it comes to giving meaning to our existence.
Hope you enjoy it!

This was easy to get into and enjoyable to read. Some of the plot was a little cliched but that didn't bother me too much and each time I left I looked forward to getting back to reading. Thanks for sharing. I will be holding onto this one until the next round in this favourite books roundabout.
The book arrived in Norway on a beautliful day. Sunshine, cold and a lot of snow. I have not read anything by Sparks, yet, so this was a nice surprise.
This book is also very different both from the previous favourite book I read + the one I sent out myself. This roundabout really does give me some nice surprises...

Well, what can I say? This book was not my cup of tea, and I can see why it's been made into a Hollywood film. I wonder whether they made a happy ending or not? But as The Winter Olympics are on at the moment, this book suited me well to be the book to read whilst watching telly.
What I liked most about the book was to be reminded that a bit of spontanity is for the good, and not to forget to take a chance if you believe in something. I think most people today opt for the safe choices.

next to be read, thank you
An easy read romance. A genre I don't usually read so thanks for the opportunity.
It is the sort of book I can remember reading at about 16-18 years old although more skilled than Mills and Boon, less formulaic.
I think it's also my first Nicholas Sparks, because he seems prepared to go against the expectation I may be tempted to read another.

The book has arrived safely. I will read it asap.
I have read a few by Sparks before and enjoyed them. I have heard of the film of the same title so thought I knew a little of what was to come. I was in for a few surprises though. A sad tale - brought a tear to my eye. I did enjoy it. Thanks for sharing it with me.

Received this as part of the Favourite Book Roundabout. Thank you! Can't wait to get stuck in and offer my humble thoughts with others.
This is not my normal choice of reading material at all. Romance books, at least of the sort explicitly marketed to women that come across 'soppy' or 'trashy', I tend to avoid. And whilst I've seen my gf enjoy them and I've heard good things about Nicholas Sparks I just couldn't get into this at all and didn't think it distinguished itself from that genre. The story I found predictable and overflowing with clichéd motifs. If I let my literary criticism subside for a moment I suppose I was on occasion touched or pleased by some well written prose, but overall I felt detached from the plot and regrettably unimpressed by Sparks. Yet I'm sure this is just me, and I thank you for the opportunity to read a book I otherwise wouldn't have.

just got the book in the mail today. Will read it soon.
I'm not much into romance novels. Luckily, I read the book while on vacation, so I was more in the mood for something easy. I can't say that the book was great, it was just average easy reading. But when I read Meg72's reasoning again for chosing this book as one of her favorites, I can understand the theme of not hanging on to your past too much but rather trying to live life as it comes. Thanks for giving me the chance to read a book I would normally not have read.
sent the book off to LiniP today
I actually got this book some time ago. Sorry for not having posted it earlier. Enjoyed reading it but the end was just a little too much for me. I will include it in a huge package which will go to ecossaise this week.
