I read this book in one sitting last night...I couldn't put it down. And I cried the whole way through.
Crow Lake is a beautiful story about the four Morrison siblings, Luke (19), Matt (17), Kate (7 and the narrator) and Bo (1 1/2) whose parents are killed in a car accident. Kate alternates between telling us about the year following the accident where the older boys struggle to keep the family together, and the present (20 years later), where she has a strained relationship with Matt, once her closest sibling.
Interspersed with the Morrison's story is that of their neighbors, the mysterious Pye family, and other farming families of Crow Lake, Canada.

This has been promised to beachglass, who lives in Fresno...she's practically a neighbor!
Will probably go out in the mail 6/23/03. Enjoy!

Just received in the mail from softdrink...thanks for the trade! I may save this to read in Pismo this summer. ;-)
This is one of the best books I've read so far this year. I could not put it down.
A very touching portrayal of a young girl growing up without parents, but with loving brothers and a sister, and a strong community of neighbors who cared deeply for these children.
This is a talented author and I look forward to reading more of her work.
Thank you softdrink, for sharing this book with me. :-)
