George Orwell's prophetic, nightmarish vision of "Negative Utopia" is timelier than ever-and its warnings more powerful.

What a dark and negative read... But still, I'm glad I've read it at last.

Book has arrived safe and sound, thank you for sharing it.
22/06/12 - Ok, so I'm a bit behind the times and while I have always enjoyed room 101 on the tv it now makes a whole lot more sense. I have often wandered whilst watching who/what I would put in... Hmmmm, daddy long legs, drivers who think it's cool to have their fog lights when it's not foggy and cold callers are among many things I would consider.
Anyway back to the book in question, it started off slow for me, I could not work out what was going on for about the first 40 pages, then all of a sudden it took off and I could not put it down, then the reading of manual came up and I lost interest again, till the last part which picked up yet again.
Bit of a roller coaster of a book for me I guess. I was surprised at the amount of modern day things that turned up. Telescreens that watch you (web cams!) and a thing that can fake photos (Photoshop - believe me I work for a magazine publishers - never trust a photo!) to name a few.
An interesting dark read, that may need a second look at some point, I think I maybe missed some points at the beginning.

I don't really know what I make of this book. At times I did feel like there were some glimmers of brilliant insights into people's behaviour and society. And technology! Can't believe how lon ago it was written. Also, each time I felt the book was going somewhere exciting, it didn't. But mostly, this book left me a bit confused and even a little scared.

And... after redfox5 probably thought the book was lost, it arrived in Brazil safe and sound -- over half a year after it was posted in UK!!!
It arrived a month ago but I really didn't have time to journal it. Thanks Shemchin for starting this journey and thanks redfox5 for surprising me! The book is the next I'm starting, but it will probably take me a while to finish reading.
The two ideas I have for the book after I read are releasing at the next new OBCZ I'm helping to create here in Rio or making a rabck like most people here did. I think I'll end up choosing the rabck, to make sure it goes to someone who is really interested.
Best wishes to all!
