Wickedly I picked this up the other week in a book store, only allowing myself to take it home as I had a plan for a swift Halloween release!

Book cover: Does the sea hold the key to her secret?

Grace loves swimming in the sea: it soothes her when she’s restless and comforts her when she’s sad. Even her dreams are full of the scents and sounds of the ocean.

But dark shadows are troubling the peaceful waters of Grace’s life. Her body is beginning to change, but not as she expected. And now that’s she’s started seeing Nik, will she be able to keep her secret to herself?

Mystery and myth intertwine in this thoroughly modern story of body image and first love.

I liked this tale of cultural differences and coping mechanisms and forgiveness. There’s lovely Grace panicking, understandably about difference, her struggling but darling artistic dad, the best of neighbourly friends, a grand gran, and a blond boyfriend and lots and lots of sea! Oh yes, and a mysterious visitor!

Happy Halloween Mallary, I’m doing the odd extra unofficial Halloween RABCK inspired by the BookCrossing UK Yahoo Groups, Not So Secret Halloween/Celebrating Autumn Surprise 2009. I though someone in the family many enjoy this so I popped it, wrapped all seasonal style, into the post today for France. I hoping allowing for the two day national postal strike here, this still ought to still arrive in time for opening on the 31 October 09. Happy Halloween Mallary, and family!
