Journal Entry 2 by ladymoonlite at Gigi's Paradise/Pat's At Puna Luu in Punaluu, Hawaii USA on Monday, July 14, 2003
Released on Monday, July 14, 2003 at Gigi's Paradise/Pat's at Puna Luu in Punaluu, Hawaii USA.
I left this in unit K1 of Gigi's Paradise, a condo on the windward side of Oahu. If you're looking for a place to stay in Hawaii, this is a great one at a reasonable price. Gigi's thought of everything, including books (YES I wanted to register them all!) for children to adults, Hawaii-related videos, and all you need to get through a week, except groceries. I think one of the best parts was the little journal that had entries for a couple of years of visitors to the condo - fascinating entries, peeks into people's vacation lives if not their day-to-day living, including artwork and poetry in some cases. But I digress (it's hard not to talk about paradise).
I finished "Like Water For Chocolate" while relaxing on the lanai, and decided to leave it on Gigi's bookshelf. While the book wasn't what I expected, it was a good vacation read, with all of that fairy-tale unreality that goes with being away from your daily grind. I enjoyed the way it wove recipes and daily life into a sort of Paul Bunyan tall tale. I hope it finds a new reader in PunaLuu.

we were renting a little cottage on the north shore of Oahu Hawaii. I read it while sitting on the beach relaxing. I loved the book. Its a quick read, and the writer is able to pull you into a scene and then transend you into what you think is the same scene, but not. The write takes you logically into non logical scenes with an compelling and believeable mindset.

As I was checking in at the airlines the attendant behind the counter asked if I would take this book. Well, of course, I am on my way to LasVegas and will probably not do any reading but felt like I was being accompanied by a friend. Bette Medler was absolutely fabulous by the way. On the way through the airport, I handed the book over to a wonderful person who was going to be on a houseboat for a week. How fun to have been a part of this, Thanks

Caught the book from an airline employee while checking into my flight. Passed it on in Las Vegas, Nev. to a lady waiting for her flight.

While waiting for a flight out of Portland, Oregon, a woman sitting near me struck up a conversation, told me about Book Crossing, and asked if I was interested in taking the book. I was a little wary (maybe airports aren't such a good place to hand things to strangers), but decided to take it. I had seen the film a couple of times but never read the book, and found it to be a very enjoyable read. Happy Trails!
