Das Buch:
"In July 1953 Violet Sullivan, a local good-time girl living in Serena Station, California, drives off in her brand new Chevy, leaving behind her husband and young daughter Daisy. Violet is never seen again.
Now, thirty-five years later, Daisy wants closure. Reluctant to open such an old, cold case, Kinsey Millhone agrees to spend five days investigating, believing at first that Violet simply moved on to pastures new. But a lot of people shared a past with Violet, one that some are still desperate to keep hidden. And in a town as close-knit as Serena there aren´t many places to hide when things turn vicious..."

There are so many things I love about this series, but number 1 has to be Expect the Unexpected! The books have a loose formula which Ms Grafton cleverly breaks here and there. This time the brilliant shake up was in the form of random flashback chapters inserted throughout the narrative. They were told in third person and traced suspects back in 1953 when Violet went missing. She gave almost everyone a good reason and the opportunity to have done Violet harm. But what really happened?!? I was on the edge of my seat, with my heart pounding, desperate to find out! Great build up and I guessed wrong! Wish Kinsey was a real person so I could get her on the case of my family tree - there are many old mysteries to get to the bottom of and she is always victorious hahaha.

Can’t believe I have been in possession of this book for so long. I have a new reader in mind and will do my best to get it posted this week.
