The latest on the series, number 7, no doubt as gentle and likable as the first 6 :) ps. and added Meerkats, how very of the moment!
(21/12) I was getting a bit bored of the same-old Detective Agency, but I read this with renewed interest…I’m not sure if its me or whether McCall Smith has upped his game? Slowly but surely the cast is expanding in this gentle soap opera, a fiance for Mme Matekusi (sp?) and a new – male – part-time detective. Typically the ‘blue shoes’ and ‘happiness’ of the title relate to wisdom about what makes people happy (a comfortable chair) and human fallibilities (too small shoes). I think this book has fewer real crimes than ever, with Mme Ramotswe kept busy on her ‘pro bono’ work, resolving a blackmail and passing on a case of medical malpractice, for example, without the hint of a fee. And long may she continue!
