Got it via bookmooch, I've read couple of Mlynowski's books and so far I've liked them. This seems like a good book too, judging from the back cover.

Synopsis:
When Sunny Langstein decides to pack up her Florida life and move in with her boyfriend in Manhattan, her big sister isn't thrilled. What modern-day twenty-four-year-old leaves her promising career, fabulous friends, and perfect underground parking spot with accompanying convertible for…a guy?
Only Sunny has an additional incentive: the chance to star on Party Girls, the latest reality television show. True, she might become a national laughing-stock and it pays nothing, BUT it's a job, a job in Manhattan. She'll get to be with her boyfriend, Steve. Okay so she can't tell anyone she isn't single - but with freebie designer clothes, alpha-beta peels and coconut cream pedicures to make her transformation into a made-for-TV single girl complete . . . she can't lose!
But when the show's premiere plunges Sunny into a media frenzy of talk shows, tampon endorsements, TV heartthrobs and S&M toys, how long will it take for Sunny to lose track of where she ends and her alter ego, Sunny Lang the Über Fashionista Single Superstar, begins?

This book has been in my bookshelf for over 12 years, it has moved houses 5 times, I've looked at it's title hundreds of times and finally, it was time to read it. I not sure how many years it would have taken without the Reducing Mt. TBR 2022 challenge in the Finnish forum.

Over ten years ago I was more into chic lit but I have to admit this wasn't too bad. It actually absorbed me in and I read most of it in few days. The parts with someone watching the show or Sunny's experiences filming it were the pages that flied by.

I'm not sure what to think of Sunny. In the beginning she strikes as a person who doesn't really care of fame, fortune or appearances, so it felt a bit weird of how soon she started to care and obsess about the fame. Was there always a superficial side of her or is it just what happens when you get your share of popularity? Or is it the age thing? She's 24, so I was thinking how I would have reacted in her age. When things got really crazy I think I grimaced at her few times.

Younger me would have read this, said it was good and moved on. The older me started to think about it in more profound way – would I change if I was in reality TV, what makes us so blind for obvious things in front of us and how hard is it to stay true to yourself? The book made me think, laugh and spend hours cozily on the sofa doing the one thing I've missed past years - reading.

This is 5/16 in TBR-vuoren louhintahaaste 2022 / Reducing Mt. TBR 2022 Challenge at the Finnish forum.
