Mount Hood is near the famous city of Portland, Oregon1 It is part of the Cascade Mountains! The Cascades also include Mt. Rainier, and the infamous Mt. Saint Helens! The Cascade Mountains are fmous in the Pacific Northwwest of the USA, just like The Alps are famous in Europe! I visited The mad King, King Ludwig's famous castle in Bayern/Bavaria in 1962, and wen skiing in 1963 and 1964 in Bertchesgarden and Garmisch, and into the Austrian area of The Alps, also! I was living in the Nurnberg/Furth area from 1962-64! William O. Darby Kaserne(US Army) was my home away from So Cal USA ! I loved the experience, people,food, beer, the local vibe, and the short travel trips I ventured on!

This a great story! i really enjoyed, even though it was for young kids! Gareth is a magical cat, who takes Jason(the young boy on a magical trip back in time! Gareth lets Jason know that he can talk, and they begin their adventure;starting in ancient Egypt in 2700 B.C.,visiting The ancient City of Cats, a Roman invasion of Brittain, where they join the
Old Cats Company, on to more adventures in Japan, Peru,, Ireland, Italy, even a Witch Village in 1600, in Germany ! Also on The isle Of Man, and the USA in 1775! Each stop in their Time Travels, leads to great fun and adventure! jason must always stay close to his friend or he won't be able to make the return trip home! Gareth watches out for the young boy, Jason on the 9 city tour, which equals Gareth's 9 lives !
My grand daughters had both read this book and rated it 10 **********(STARS) ! Neither has oined Bookcrossing, but each one has their BC name pickeD out(13 year old Skye is 'SkyeBlue2; ~~ 9 year old Shay is "purplekid2001)'

I'll see if my son wants to read it to our 4 ear old grand daughter, Raven! They will visit us at Christmas 2010, coming down from Portland, Oregon! I will checj Alibris books for other books from this author, even though this was first released in 1963! This copy is in very good condition, and I love the BookCrossing bookplate with books and reading glasses in German!
