Loved this book. Not a cheery subject matter but it is so well written. In places it is almost poetical. Always throughout this book, whatever happens to the people, there is an undercurrent of hope.

thank you, Vekiki, Patina and her book arrived today, she has nearly finished reading and I read this very long ago in German, so I'm sure to read it again in English :)
This is a very intriguing book, I enjoyed reading it in English, it is of course better than in translation, as the language gives a lot more of the atmosphere

I got this as a winner of the Karl-May-Sweepstakes organized by Releanna. Thanks for this RABCK and the lovely Manner from Austria. It´s already finished ;). I will read this book as part of the 1.000-books-challenge by Hardenberg.
I had always wanted to read this book and I got the time to really enjoy it during my holiday. Even though, the book talks about such a depressing story most of the characters are not depressed. Thank you for sharing this book with me.
