In September 2007 I read a different copy of this book and here are the comments I had at that time.

I finally got the chance to read this series again and this is one of the books that I remember most from childhood. As I went through the book I knew that I had been here before. This book is packed full of memorable things like living in a dugout (the first I had heard of such a thing), the creek turning into a raging river and Laura nearly drowning, Pa getting caught in a blizzard and eating the oyster crackers and candies to survive, the grasshoppers, and lots more. I think my favorite part of this book (and also a favorite episode from the TV show that has the same theme) is the chapters of Town Party and Country Party. The descriptions of Nellie Oleson and different ways in which the children live are enjoyable to me and I think this is one place where I can truly identify with Laura.
