I really enjoyed this book and the storyline was great. Written from the perspective of a horse was very novel and very entertaining as well. The horse was Traveller which was the famous horse of General Robert E. Lee as the commander of the Army of Northern Virginia during the Civil War. The story unfolds as Traveller remembers his younger days and then recounts his war memories with some of his stablemates mostly his favorite cat-friend. His understanding of warfare and the misery of the hardships is well described and is a warm narrative of an old soldier who had earned his comfortable stable and relaxing rides with his master. Truly a poignant story nicely done. I am going to give this directly to a friend to enjoy.
