A beautiful book about the sixteen-year-old boy named Pi. After the tragic sinking of a cargo ship, he is the only survivor together with some animals from his fathers zoo, a hyena, a zebra (with a broken leg), a female orang-utan and a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger.

What fun it was to visit an OBCZ in another country. I had the adresses of more OBCZ's in Oslo, but the only one I could find was the one in the cafe in the railway station. And such nice books I found there! Thanks for supplying them! I picked up 3 and put two others on your bookshelves. Funny to see that there was a book of the Dutch writer Margriet de Moor, translated into scandinavion language (I cannot remember which language, I suppose it was norwegian ;o) on your shelves. I put amongst others an in Dutch translated book of Swedish writer Henning Mankell next to it...

Now I have returned home from our holiday in Scandinavia I first have to do some cleaning and washing, but after that reading the Life of Pi will bring me back in Norway! Thanks for having such a great OBCZ!!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

This book is on my To Be Read-shelf far too long, so I will give it back its freedom. I will put it in between the pluche toys of the toysdepartment at V&D, a big warehouse in the city center of Groningen. I hope the tiger, hyena, orang-utan, Pi and the crippled zebra in the book will feel at home between the pluche animals...;o))

Hooray! A wild book which I really wanted to read. I went to the warehouse as soon as time permitted and got daunted by the hundreds of cuddly animals in the toys department. After taking a deep breath, I did a methodical search and behold, I found the book.

Started reading soon after, on a bench close to the university. Thank you, previous releasers, for getting it in my hands!

What a fantastic cracker of a book! Easily the best book I read this year. I went through it as fast as my schedule would allow, with a marathon sprint last night. Some stuff (eg. the floating meerkat island, the blind encounter with the blind frenchman) is too fantastic to believe, but that's just a question of accepting the story as given. It's fiction, right? The premise of the story, sharing a lifeboat with a tiger, is totally acceptable.

Will be released soon, preferably to someone who can appreciate it.

Phew! Now I can get on with my life again.
