This was in a big bag of books I purchased at an estate sale for $2.00.

Anna leaves her 7 year old daughter with a caregiver while she goes on a short trip to Italy. When she doesn’t return, her daughter and friends become worried and start to imagine what may have happened. The author cleverly weaves two alternative plots to explain Anna’s absence, each similar in some ways to the other, but ultimately an unsatisfying ending.

Left it on the bookshelf in the lobby. I enjoyed this book, though it wasn't what I expected. The parallel storylines gave it a bit of a twist and added to the suspense.
