The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

My friend in college back when this was published was absolutely batty about it. She loved it. I tried to read it then, but got bored and sort of wandered off. Now I've reconnected with a different friend from college who decided to give me this book. Apparently it was pretty important to him back in the day, too.
I'm reading it now, and can see why it might have been inordinately attractive to exceptionally precocious young adults, but I'm still not in its thrall. Coincidentally, I'm heading to Ottawa, and as I was exploring a bit via the internet I stumbled upon a bar called "Zaphod Beeblebrox". Go figure.

I remember back in college this was a well-loved book and I can see why. Now it seems a bit pat. Maybe there's been a lot of knock-offs on it which have jaded me. Still, I'm glad I finally got around to reading it. I handed it off to a couple sitting behind me on a plane to Ottawa. I had to explain both Book Crossing and the reknown of the book to them to get them interested. I sure hope they read and journal it! They said they might take it to Europe with them soon...
Witty and a classic!
Brought it with me to France....think I will share it with someone in Europe.

My husband's favourite line was, "It's better to be happy than to be right!"
My husband took the book home from France because he wanted to read it and brought it back home to Canada....Now, it is off to Rockville Centre, NY, USA...Bon voyage!
