Picked this book up in a quaint little bookshop in Lyme Regis while we were visiting today and after walking along the sea wall like the French Leiutenant's Woman!
"Hello morons! Uncle Beastly calling!"
Beachcomber (J.B.Morton) is one of the great men of English humour. For over fifty years he contributed his famous By The Way column to the Daily Express, introducing readers to a notable cast of characters. They include Dr Strabismus 'Whom God Preserve' of Utrecht, Charlie Suet, Captain Foulenough and, of course, Mr Justice Cocklecarrot and the Twelve Red-Bearded Dwarfs.
In this bumper collection Richard Ingrams, who also provides a biographical introduction, has reassembled the extraordinary cast. In addition there is a generous selection of Beachcomber's spoof newspaper items, poems and parodies. Jeff Fisher has done the drawings.

Don't think I'll read the whole book - dipped into it a bit but really not for me! Making it available.
