I didn't intend to take this book, I picked it up from the table for a look, skimmed over the first couple of pages and was somehow hooked. I read most of it in Princes St Gardens before going for dinner and finished it on the bus home after.
It wasn't sensationalist, it was a spirited account of what happened, almost sticking her finger up at the man who kidnapped her. I admired her attitude.

Left on the bookcrossing shelf
Left on the bookcrossing shelf
picked up this book on the shelf of Beanscene in Glasgow's west end and hardly put it down till i'd finished it some 7 hours later.
There is some slight uneasy sense of voyeurism in reading such an open honest account of another person's suffering but Sabine's blunt and uncluttered style of writing some how makes it okay for you to read this. She involves the reader and at the same time keeps her distance. My impression is very much as she states that the book had to be written to let her draw a line through it and stop questions being asked. She seems to me to be an strong person and i would wish her all the success in her life.To the "scumbag" i would only wish for a return to the death penalty so that he can never experience another hot meal or a warm bed and most importantly never a moments freedom which he would without a shadow of a doubt go on to commit similar offences against humanity.
