A tale about some kind of relationship between a man and a fish. Shall we like the courage of a man struggling against his environment or dislike the dangerous and useless obsession ? The author may have been rewarded for this book, I found it perfectly boring.

thank you so much, christina82!

I've read "The Old Man and the Sea" a few years back in German, I loved it and I always wanted to read it in English. You made me very happy! :)

Journal Entry 6 by glitterbee from Mainz, Rheinland-Pfalz Germany on Sunday, May 2, 2010
As I said in my previous entry, I read the book a few years back and enjoyed it. Reading it for the second time, I think I enjoyed it even more, because I wasn't rushing as much getting through it. I did not remember the end, I must have confused it with another book, because I was actually kinda surprised. It was in the tone I expected, but not what I expected.

Thanks glitterbee. I´m usually not so into classic reads, but this one has such a modern and appealling cover that I actually look forward to this read and I have high expectations for it.

Journal Entry 9 by wingdutch-bookwing at Heerenveen , Fryslân (Friesland) Netherlands on Friday, July 5, 2019
I've just read this book which took me a couple of days.
Rereading my first journal entry I wonder what I found so modern and appealing about the cover? I also like to think about in what ways and how much my life has changed since the first journal entry.

Anyway, the story. It was not quite for me. I could say it's atmospheric and I can sort of understand why it's a classic. I didn't get any fun out of reading it, and that is something I look for in a book, I think.
I will take this book to the annual BC-meeting in Castricum.

This book was still on the table at the end of the meeting. It is a tiny book, may be I will give it a go ;) It is written near the place where my father lived for about 10 years.
