BLURB - If someone called you a 'googlewhack' what would you do?

Would you end up playing table tennis with a nine year-old boy in Boston? Would you find yourself in Los Angeles wrangling snakes, or would you go to China to be licked by a performance artist? If your name is Dave Gorman, then all of these things could be true. Fuelled by a lust for life and a desperate desire to do anything except what he's supposed to be doing (writing that novel and growing up), Dave falls under the spell of an obscure internet word game - Googlewhacking. Addicted to the game, and gripped by obsession, Dave travels three times round the world, visiting four continents and the unlikeliest cast of real life eccentrics you'll ever meet in what becomes an epic challenge, a life-changing, globe-trotting Googlewhack adventure.

Thanks for the trade frozenpenguin; Lionboy is on it's way and should reach you shortly.

As mentioned this is our book club choice for August; I like Dave Gorman and enjoyed watching his "Are You Dave Gorman?" TV show a few years back. I've heard good things about this book and can't wait to start reading.

EDIT: 20th August 2009 - started reading this morning it's fast paced and humorous from the get go.

EDIT: 25th August 2009 - I found Dave Gorman’s Googlewhack adventure to be exhilarating and humours throughout; I loved reading about Dave’s many exploits and his meetings with some of the Googlewhacks were extremely interesting if not bizarre. All in all a great read.

Next up: John Irving - The Cider House Rules

Thanks for the wishlist RABCK! I look forward to reading this book!

This book was very entertaining to read. Within the first few pages I had laughed out loud at least once. Having read "Are You Dave Gorman?" I knew that Dave was a bit of a nut. It is not surprising that some of the characters were unusual, considering he found them via googlewhacking, one in 3 billion.

Thanks to stubee for sharing this book with me. I am going to RABCK it forward.

Well I happily sniggered & smirked my way through Dave's adventures. As you would expect, he meets some quirky & eccentric characters most of whom are happy to welcome him into their lives & become part of his googlewhack chain.

I'll certainly be on the look out for more of Dave's adventures - wonder what he'll get up to next...
